Our Story
Birds of a Feather
The name started as an inside joke. In 2022, Matthew and Alyssa both left their previous companies and landed at the same startup. They quickly became friends over a shared love of games — board games, video games, card games, all of it. During downtime, they played the mobile version of Wingspan, a board game they both loved, despite living thousands of miles apart. The bird jokes piled up, and "Birds of a Feather Developers" became a pipe dream they kept coming back to.
Around the same time, Matthew started taking on freelance projects to sharpen his skills. An old business associate reached out with an opportunity: a division at Ford needed a custom barcode scanning application for their Zebra devices — exactly the kind of work he'd done before. That project grew over the following couple of years, and when it became clear that it needed a real team behind it, Matthew decided to turn the dream into a company and brought Alyssa onboard.
That's the humble beginning of our happy little team — built on friendship, a shared love of birds (the board game kind), and a belief that good software comes from people who actually enjoy working together.
